Our History

[dropcap1]g[/dropcap1] reen Thumb Nursery was founded in the year 1946 by Dale Bergquist and Errol Newton.  The first location opened in Canoga Park during that same year.  Dale Bergquist was the president of the Rotary Club of Canoga Park.

Since its opening, Green Thumb Nursery has opened four more locations throughout Southern California, all of which, are open today.  Our five locations are in Ventura, Lake Forest, Newhall, Canoga Park and San Marcos.

Green Thumb has been a family-owned garden center servicing the kind people of Southern California for over 70 years.  Today, the Bergquist family continue on the customer service orientated business with the same “friendly service with a smile” that has been trademarked since the original founders.

Customers choose Green Thumb Nursery for the superior customer service, the most knowledgeable garden experts in the industry and the quality of plants that customers receive in exchange for affordable costs when compared to our competitors.

Green Thumb offers a full-service garden center with many California Certified Nursery Professionals at every store.  We offer a variety of products that include plants, gardening supplies, hardware, irrigation, patio furniture, dining, garden art, and much more!
